The Catalburun

Description

The Catalburun originates from Mersin, within the southern Tarsus province in Turkey. The Catalburun is one of the rarest breeds in the world. It is estimated that there are only 200 of these animals in existence today! Their most distinguishable attribute is their fork-like nose or double nose.

The Catalburun is smart and devoted to its family as well as having the ability to track and point. They are well-known for hunting partridges and tend to be a fun companion for the whole family.

Temperament

The Catalburun is usually an even-tempered pet with undying loyalty to their family. Their high prey drive also make them excellent hunting companions. Due to their tracking abilities, Catalburun tend to work well with search and rescue teams and as police dogs. They are patient with children when properly trained, but can be aggressive as they are dominant about their property. They make great guard dogs as well, as they don't easily trust strangers. The Catalburun tends to prefer living indoors with their family and are generally a quiet breed. Use positive reinforcement to train this breed and they may even enjoy it!
